Holographic Computers
A holographic drive is the core of a high-capacity, rapid-access holographic data storage and retrieval system. At the present time, DVDs and CDs are still the primary vehicles for portable data recordable media for music, video, and information. These traditional information storage media store information as discrete dots on the surface of the recording medium and the medium should be spun around to recover the information. The cost of saving data is dropping but the need, however, for long-term information storage has increased even more promptly. Holographic data storage opens possibilities for storing information at much higher densities than DVDs and CDs by storing information three- dimensionally throughout the thickness of the recordable media. Also, basics of holographic data storage covers similar holotech technologies.
In addition to rendering more rapid access and higher density, holotechnology technology opens up new methods of information comparison and retrieval. Many present day data recording and playback systems need precise details of data location in order to access information and they process it in a serial manner. In contrast, holotechnology technology allows exploring large quantities of information a whole page at a time to compare overall patterns and sameness of content. In the case of holographic applied science, the degree of similarity between a high-level search pattern and information pages throughout an optical media depth can be quantified without discrete comparison of individual data elements. This is known as "Associative Retrieval." Associative extraction is more tolerant of imaccuracy and adaptive association, and more closely related to human cognition, than traditional information storage and extraction systems. holographic technology and neural networks also has additional holotech information.
While there is a great deal of promise for rapid access and high storage capacity for holotechnology information systems, several challenges remain concerning the material and shape of the recordable media. Candidate media composites range from: high-sensitivity photo-chromic and photochemical polymers; and photo-sensitive crystals (such as lithium niobate) and glasses. There is additional discussion at a hologram is an interference pattern of related material.
Holographic science has been in use for decades for art and entertainment. Even basic holograms with alternating visual angles can be beautiful works of art whose engaging qualities actively involve the viewer. Moving holotechnology pictures in high-tech amusement park attractions regularly engage and thrill participants. Holographic science is, even now, being used to record holotechnology DVDs over a hundred gigabytes in size. Future generation holographic disks and holocubes may store as much as a terabyte. In the years to come, new holographic technology uses will spring from the hybridization of computer games, internet access, and television. Some usages will be multi- user, responsive, three-dimensional entertainment experiences. If the topic interests you, please also see gloves to manipulate holographic images .
